Does the state have charter schools?

Are charters required to provide transportation for any students?
The local board of education shall provide transportation for pupils who qualify for free meals under the national school lunch act and who live 2 1/2 or more miles from the school. School districts may also provide transportation for other students. ("Nothing in this section shall operate in any manner to prevent a board of education from providing transportation to and from a charter school for all pupils attending the school.")
Can charter schools employ uncertified teachers?
We did not find mention of teacher certification requirements in Kansas statutes. However, Education Commission of the States states that charter school teachers must be certified.
Virtual School Choice
Do state statutes allow for full-time virtual schools?
Are virtual schools required to track attendance?
No requirement for tracking attendance. However, attendance is used to determine "full-time equivalent enrollment." Attendance can be verified by tracking "a pupil's on-line activity or entries in the pupil's virtual school journal or log of activities."

Do virtual schools have to comply with state teacher certification requirements?
It is unclear whether certification is required; however, training is required: "...school districts shall provide adequate training to teachers who teach in virtual schools. Each year, school districts shall submit a report relating to training programs provided by the district to teachers who teach in virtual schools. Such reports shall be submitted in the manner and form required by the state board."
Private School Choice

Interdistrict School Choice
Does the state have interdistrict choice programs?
"...[T]he boards of education of any two or more unified school districts may make and enter into agreements providing for the attendance of pupils residing in one school district at school in kindergarten or any of the grades one through 12 maintained by any such other school district."

Are receiving schools or districts required to provide transportation to any students?
The board of education of a school district shall not furnish or provide transportation for students who reside in another school district except in accordance with the written consent of the board of education of the school district in which such student resides
